The Wildflowers around Melbourne

Born in 1828, Fanny Anne Charsley grew up in England before accompanying her family to Australia. Working with famed Victorian government botanist, Baron Fedinhand von Mueller, Fanny collected plants for Mueller before meticulously painting her floral portraits. Whilst Fanny’s illustrations were botanically accurate, they were also acutely styled with flowing movements and balanced arrangements.
Fanny returned to England in 1867 and published her botanical drawings in a book titled ‘The Wildflowers around Melbourne’.
