123 Turtles and Geckos
Join Yolŋu artist Ms N. Yunupiŋu and her granddaughter Siena Mayutu Wurmarri Stubbs on a counting adventure across Country, spotting animals of Arnhem Land and learning Yolŋu Matha, the language of the Yolŋu people, along the way. With a simple narrative and colourful illustrations celebrating the artist’s distinctive works, this bilingual board book introduces young children to numbers up to five and makes counting fun.
This book is a collaboration between Buku-Larrŋgay Mulka Centre and the National Gallery of Victoria.

About the artist: Yolŋu artist Ms N. Yunupiŋu lived and worked in Yirrkala, North-East Arnhem Land. Her works often include animals found in the lands and waters around Yirrkala and her homeland, Biranybirany, East Arnhem Land.
About the author: Siena Mayutu Wurmarri Stubbs is a Yolŋu author and artist. She draws inspiration from her culture and her connections to the land, including her homeland, Bawaka, East Arnhem Land.
The National Gallery of Victoria acknowledges the recent passing of the artist contributor of this book. Following advice communicated by Gumatj cultural advisors in Yirrkala, this book description has been updated to reflect the cultural protocol of refraining from speaking and writing the artist's name while the community is in mourning.
