Linda Jackson was born in 1950 in Melbourne, Australia. She studied fashion design at the Emily MacPherson College, Melbourne from 1966-67.

In 1982, Jackson established her design studio, Bush Couture. The practice produced rich textile designs and explored a variety of different techniques; screen printing, stencilling, appliqué, batik and embroidery. Adopting some unorthodox methods like stencilling using gum leaves and fluorescent paints, and designs without repeats.

The strong influences in her work come from a celebration of the “colours, ecology, flora and fauna” of the Australian environment and through her ongoing collaborations with indigenous artists.
