Arts Project Australia has aimed high since 1974 when they set out to lead and innovate in the arts and disability sectors. Arts Project were the first full-time art studio in Australia dedicated to artists with an intellectual disability and have built a reputation both in Australia and internationally for their achievements on this front. They have been included in exhibitions all over the world and are represented in countless public and private collections.
Third Drawer Down Studio in collaboration with Arts Projects Australia and the NGV design store present Australiana, a collection of functional art products featuring the work of Lisa Reid, Cathy Staughton, Julian Martin, Patrick Francis, Valerio Ciccone and Peter Ben.
The 20-piece collection pays homage to the kitsch Australian souvenir, singing our anthem via pot holders, stubby coolers and tea towels. All products are exclusive to the NGV design store.
With drawing as his primary mode of expression, Valerio Ciccone’s work reflects his interest and fascination with the world around him. In the past, Ciccone has also effectively employed ceramics and animation to create whimsical figures and narratives. Over many years, Ciccone’s work has undergone a series of changes: from his
earliest watercolours and powerful text-based monochromatic pastel portraits, colourful scenes from the AFL to his enduring repertoire of animals, still life and pop culture icons. Ciccone continues to delight with his gentle insights.
This stubby holder features Valerio Ciccone’s work Kangaroo. Neoprene.
