Arts Project Australia has aimed high since 1974 when they set out to lead and innovate in the arts and disability sectors. Arts Project were the first full-time art studio in Australia dedicated to artists with an intellectual disability and have built a reputation both in Australia and internationally for their achievements on this front. They have been included in exhibitions all over the world and are represented in countless public and private collections.
Third Drawer Down Studio in collaboration with Arts Projects Australia and the NGV design store present Australiana, a collection of functional art products featuring the work of Lisa Reid, Cathy Staughton, Julian Martin, Patrick Francis, Valerio Ciccone and Peter Ben.
The 20-piece collection pays homage to the kitsch Australian souvenir, singing our anthem via pot holders, stubby coolers and tea towels. All products are exclusive to the NGV design store.
Lisa Reid works across ceramics, painting, drawing and printmaking, often utilising preliminary workings of an image as a blueprint for her work. Reid has a meticulous and intricate practice which is inspired by working from life, old family snaps and popular culture images and ultimately provides a unique view of everyday life.
This pot holder features Lisa Reid’s work Dame Edna. 100% cotton.
