Looking back at our world from a speculative future, Daniel Arsham explores the possibilities of ambiguous or ‘in-between’ spaces and situations in an imagined society much different to our own. His works can be seen as ‘future relics of the present,’ or objects that will hold meaning of the present day to future society. Falling clock draws attention to this slippage of time. The solid walls of the gallery are caught in an act of dissolving, catching and cradling the precarious timepiece, which suggests a destabilisation of all that is solid, or real, around us.
