RUBY PILVEN FOR NGV
Ruby Pilven lives and works in Ballarat, Victoria. This new body of work is inspired by the exhibition Masterpieces from the Hermitage: The Legacy of Catherine the Great. Audacious in bold colour patterns with striking gold lustre highlights, Ruby’s work is a contemporary twist on the Japanese technique called Nerikomi (hand-building with coloured clay). The making of the work includes a two week drying time and three firing stages
The design of this collection is a contemporary take on royal ceremonial wares referencing colours and patterns featured in the Cameo Service originally commissioned by Catherine the Great.
This collection is exclusive to the NGV design store.
